Wendover's Christmas Celebration and lights switch-on is on Saturday 28 November 2026, 5pm to 8pm on Manor Waste, High Street, with stalls, food and drink.

Wendover’s Christmas lights go on at the village’s Christmas Celebration and Light Switch On on Saturday 28 November 2026, 5pm to 8pm. It is held on the Manor Waste area outside Sweeney’s on the High Street, with festive shopping, food and drink. Wendover Parish Council, which runs it, has published the date on its own Christmas Celebration page.

The quick answer

  • Is it on this year? Yes. Wendover Parish Council confirms Saturday 28 November 2026.
  • When: 5pm to 8pm.
  • Where: Manor Waste, outside Sweeney’s, High Street, Wendover.
  • What: stalls selling Christmas gifts and crafts, hot food and drink, and the switch-on of the village’s lights.
  • Not yet published: the time of the switch-on itself, who presses the button, the entertainment and any road closure.

What the parish council has confirmed

The council’s page is written for stallholders, because stall applications are open now, but it sets out the shape of the evening. Local makers, retailers, charities and businesses have been invited to sell Christmas gifts, crafts and other products, and food and catering traders to run hot food stalls. The event area will be lit, and stallholders have been asked to bring festive decorations.

Two details tell you something about the night:

  • Food stalls pay no pitch fee. Instead, each one gives 10% of its takings on the night to the parish council’s chosen charity. Standard 3m by 3m stalls pay £20.
  • The stall list is settled in October. Applications close on Friday 16 October 2026 and the council will tell applicants by Monday 19 October, so the line-up of stalls should be known from late October.

The council has not said whether the event is free to attend. It has not published a ticketing or booking route, which is usual for a street event of this kind, and we will add the detail when it does.

Running a stall

If you want a pitch, the forms are on the parish council’s page. Standard pitches are 3m by 3m at £20, and you bring your own table, gazebo and weights. Hot takeaway food cannot be sold from a standard stall; it needs a food stall application, which should say what you will serve, the pitch size you need and any power you need. Stalls should be self-powered or use battery lighting where possible, and every successful applicant needs current public liability insurance, the right certificates and a risk assessment.

Completed forms go to Phoebe Sharps, Estates and Event Manager, Wendover Parish Council, The Clock Tower, High Street, Wendover HP22 6DU, by email to estates@wendover-pc.gov.uk or on 01296 623056. The deadline is 16 October.

Parking

The nearest council car park is Wendover Library car park, High Street, HP22 6DU, with 67 spaces and 4 Blue Badge bays. Buckinghamshire Council charges there from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday: up to 2 hours is 80p and up to 3 hours is £1. Blue Badge holders park free. Card, contactless and the JustPark, PayByPhone, RingGo and AppyParking apps are accepted (Buckinghamshire Council).

On a Saturday evening event that runs past 7pm, a car arriving at 5pm only pays for the two hours to 7pm. Expect the car park to fill early: it is small for a village-wide event.

For Aylesbury’s car parks, tariffs and Blue Badge rules see our parking in Aylesbury page, and for anything closing on the roads in, our roadworks and travel page.

The other switch-ons nearby

Wendover’s is the last of the three big switch-ons in this patch this year:

  • Aylesbury, Sunday 22 November: Christmas on the Cobbles, noon to 6pm, with the illuminated parade at 5pm and fireworks after the lights. Detail on our Aylesbury Christmas lights page.
  • Buckingham, Thursday 26 November: 4pm to 7pm outside the Old Gaol. Detail on our Buckingham Christmas lights page.
  • Wendover, Saturday 28 November: 5pm to 8pm on Manor Waste.

Winslow Town Council had published nothing about a 2026 Christmas fair or switch-on when we checked on 1 October.

What we will add

This page will be updated when the parish council publishes the switch-on time, the entertainment and any road closure on the High Street. We expect that in November, after the stall list is settled on 19 October.
